Jane Peck is the director of Dance Revels Moving History, a traditional dance theater company that tells the untold stories of our Midwest and North American heritage through dance, theater and live music. These workshops are taught in conjunction with the Bottineau Jig Project of Dance Revels Moving History.One workshop: $15 per person, $12 for Tapestry members,Both workshops: $24 per person, $20 for Tapestry members


French-Canadian Step DanceSaturday, March 12, 1-2:30 pmBienvenue to the step dance and jigged quadrilles from Quebec, Canada! Step back in time to dance like French-Canadians who settled here in Minnesota. Jane Peck will teach specific steps and full dances from this style. With live fiddle music by Gary Schulte. Do you play the spoons? Come and learn!Hard-soled shoes are best–no taps please. $15 per person, $12 for Tapestry members,$24 for both workshops, $20 for Tapestry members
Metis or French-Indian Step DanceSaturday, March 26, 1-2:30 pmBouzhou! Metis step dance is a blend of French-Canadian and Ojibwe step dance. It is often referred to as the Red River Jig. We will learn the basic and the solo steps of this form, as well as try some improvisation of steps. Jane Peck will also teach one or two jigged quadrilles from the Metis culture. With live music by Gary Schulte. Hard soled or soft-soled shoes are appropriate.

Admission fee: $15 per person, $12 for Tapestry members. For both workshops $24 per person, $20 for Tapestry members

**These workshops are taught in conjunction with the Bottineau Jig Project of Dance Revels Moving History. The project ends in two performances of Bottineau Jig: Untold Tales of Early Minnesota at Intermedia Arts. In each workshop you will also learn one or more steps of the Red River Jig that can be danced at the end of our shows with the cast (optional of course) !show:

The group offers shows from many time periods. Jane has studied step dance with Pierre Chartrand (Quebec), Jean-Paul Cloutier (Winnipeg) , as well as Sandy Poitra of Turtle Mountain Reservation.
